What is digital eye strain?
Frequent use of computers and digital devices have given rise to a problem called digital eye strain. Some of the symptoms include:
Eye fatigue
Dry eyes
Headaches
Blurry vision
Red eyes
The following steps can be taken to improve visual comfort.
Have your eyes tested annually.
Lighting should be such that there is minimal glare on the computer screen.
Consider installing an anti glare screen.
Adjust your computer display settings for maximum visual comfort.
Blink often. Blinking is important as it helps to moisten the eyes to prevent dry eye and irritation.
Take frequent breaks. At least 10 min every hour.
Modify your work station so that the centre of your screen is at least 10 to 15 degrees below your eyes, for comfortable positioning of your head and neck.
